Federal sentencing guidelines

The Federal Sentencing guidelines of the United States is an act which contains detailed instructions as to how sentence determination in criminal offences adjudication should be made.

There are categories of offense behavior and offender characteristics and the corresponding federal sentencing guidelines Judges must apply.

The guidelines does not apply to State Judges, also Federal Judges have the liberty to deviate from the prescribed range in the guidelines in special cases where the features are atypical of what’s described in the guidelines.
