Columbia Law School admission is quite a comprehensive process and the admission board considers several things including Academics, LSAT scores, recommendations among others with an emphasis on demonstrated qualities and proven skills regarded as necessary for academic success and intellectual engagement at Columbia University.
Academic requirements
To qualify for admission consideration for the three-year, full-time Juris Doctorate program, applicants to the Columbia Law School must have graduated with a minimum of a Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution or its equivalent as determined by the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC).
Other applicants who have earned an LLM degree abroad or from an American Bar Association accredited institution may apply for either regular or early decision admission to first year of the JD program.

Applicants are required to submit their resume. It should capture special honors and awards, fellowship opportunities, publications, extracurricular involvement, community service, political activity, professional contributions, and other work experience.
Personal Statement
The personal statement—generally two double-spaced pages—should be sound in terms of grammar, usage, and mechanics and illustrate that the candidate is capable of writing at the graduate level.
Letters of recommendation
The letters of recommendation can be academic and/or professional, depending on when a candidate completed the bachelor’s degree and should provide highly useful third-party commentary regarding a candidate’s skills and capabilities, work ethic, strength of character, potential to succeed in legal study and the legal profession, etc.
